Breathing in a House
Korea (Busan), 1-10.09.2006 (10 Days)
Installation with Video
Size variable (Video length: 6 minutes)

I live in a small house, Breathing Until I use up all the air in the whole house.

Description:
One night I slept on my own bed, staring at the ceiling, thinking of nothing, but indistinctly heard my own breathing, and I suddenly asked myself, ‘How long does it take to breathe in all the air of this room?’. This is how this work was conceived. And then there came a chance to realize this idea at the Busan Biennial in Korea. I rented an apartment (6.7m x 2.7m x 2.2m, as small as an apartment in Hong Kong! ) in Busan. I lived in this small apartment as usual, but I collected the air I breathed with transparent plastic bags until the whole apartment was filled with these plastic bags with my own breathing. The whole process took 10 days. It felt like part of my life has sojourned at this apartment.

The extension of the longitude of Hong Kong and the latitude of Taipei form a crossing in China. I traveled to that position and found a stone in shape of Taiwan Island.

Mountains Trip

(1:10,000 / 2006-3 Edition)
時間/Period: 24-27/2/2007 (Unfinished)

I walked along all the folds of a map. The folds were folded or designed accidentally by an unknown person. It becomes my route to travel. I took photos for all the vertical objects (positioned at north), which are positioned at the folds of the map. In case there is no vertical object, I will stand in the north and become a vertical object.

(1:10,000 / 2006-1 Edition)
時間/Period:27-28/2, 1-2/3, 5/3/2007
*我的路線由p1向上一直行到p296,共24頁。
* I walked vertically from p1 to p296, total 24 pages.

I opened a map book. Then, I walked along all the gaps* between the left pages and the right pages in it, from the south to the north Tokyo. The pages are arched like 2 mountains and the gap is craved in like a valley. I stood and took photos at every points that were crossed the valleys.

Invisible Trip

I traveled clockwise along the boundary of a map. Sometimes, I was walking on some visible roads inside the map. Sometimes, I was walking on some invisible roads outside the map. I draw the invisible roads that I walked or saw, and took photos to the outward direction at all the ends of the roads printed in the map.
